## Rebate questions, answered

### Are there rebates for a new furnace in Ontario?

Not currently. The Home Renovation Savings Program, Enbridge Gas and Save on Energy don't offer rebates for gas furnaces or central air conditioners as of October 2026. Heat pumps, including hybrid systems that pair a heat pump with a furnace, qualify for the largest incentives.

### Can I combine the federal and Ontario heat pump rebates?

The federal government says the National Heat Pump Rebate can be combined with existing provincial programs. Home Renovation Savings rules cap combined funding at the cost of the project. Full federal rules were promised for November 1, 2026, so we'll confirm details when you book.

### Do I need an energy audit to get a heat pump rebate?

No. The Home Renovation Savings heat pump rebate and the National Heat Pump Rebate don't require an energy assessment.

### Does a ductless mini-split qualify?

Under the Home Renovation Savings Program, yes. Ducted, partially ducted and ductless cold-climate air-source heat pumps qualify if the model is on Natural Resources Canada's eligible product list.

### I already have a heat pump. Can I get a rebate to replace it?

No. The Home Renovation Savings Program doesn't cover replacing an existing heat pump.

### Do I have to do anything before installation?

Yes. For the Home Renovation Savings heat pump rebate, the contractor must get written pre-approval before any work starts. Installations done before approval aren't eligible.
