Comfort complaints are one of the most common reasons office managers call an HVAC contractor: one corner too hot, a meeting room too stuffy, a server room that won’t stay cool. Lancaster Heating and Cooling installs, maintains and repairs office heating, cooling and ventilation across Hamilton, Halton and Niagara, and we find the cause before recommending a fix.

Common office HVAC problems we fix

  • Hot and cold spots between perimeter offices, interior rooms and meeting rooms. Ductwork balancing, zoning or a ductless unit can fix them. See ductwork.
  • Server and IT rooms that need cooling around the clock. See ductless heat pumps.
  • Stuffy air from too little ventilation or poor filtration. See air quality.
  • Aging rooftop and split systems with rising repair bills. See rooftop units.

Renovations and new layouts

New walls, private offices and meeting rooms change how air moves through a floor. A layout that used to be open plan may need new supply and return runs, or a separate zone. Bring us in early. We’ll design the changes, fabricate the ductwork in our own shop and coordinate the electrical through Lancaster Group. See construction and tenant fit-outs.

Keeping it running

Planned maintenance catches problems before they become a shutdown, and our technicians are on call 24/7 when something fails. See commercial preventive maintenance and commercial HVAC repair.

Office HVAC questions

How should a server room be cooled?

With its own cooling. Servers give off heat around the clock, including nights and weekends when the building's system may be set back or off. A dedicated ductless unit keeps the room cool without over-cooling the offices around it. See ductless heat pumps.

Why do some offices run hot while others are cold?

Offices on outside walls gain and lose heat with the weather and the sun, interior rooms stay warm all year, and meeting rooms heat up when they're full. When one thermostat or one zone serves all of them, someone is always uncomfortable. Balancing the ductwork, adding zones or a ductless unit for a problem area can fix it.

Our office feels stuffy. What can be done?

Stuffiness usually means not enough fresh air, or air that isn't moving. Options include bringing in more outdoor air, better filtration and humidity control. We'll check what the current system supplies before recommending changes. See air quality.

Can you do the work outside office hours?

Yes. We plan installations, shutdowns and noisy work around your hours so staff can keep working. Let us know your hours and any dates to avoid when you request a quote.
